Singapore: toddler-friendly attractions

If you are thinking of bringing a toddler on a trip, Singapore is one of the best choices that comes to mind.ย  It is just a 3-hour flight from Hong Kong and it’s one of the cleanest countries in the world with a good range of family-friendly activities available.ย  In a short 4 days 3 nights trip, we visited the following attractions which my 21 months old niece loved.

Gardens by the Bay

It is easy to spend a whole afternoon leisurely strolling around the garden including visiting the flower dome and cloud forest.ย  Be sure to catch the Garden Rhapsody light show at the Supertree Grove at 7.45pm or 8.45pm daily before you leave!

Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is just located beside the Night Safari which makes it logical to go to both on the same day.ย  Their official website offers 2-Park Admission tickets at a discount.ย ย  For getting around inside the zoo, there is a tram ride with 4 stops and it costs SGD5.00 for unlimited rides.

Night Safari

From researching on the internet, there seems to be mixed opinions on whether the Night Safari is worth going to.ย  The main cons is that it might be hard to see any animals in the dark and the lineup for the English tram (which is included in the admission ticket) is super long.ย  For resolving the latter problem, we decided to book the ticket for the multi-language tram on Klook so that we can skip the lineup for the English tram.

Nevertheless we decided to go to the Night Safari and it turned out to be a great experience! We actually saw a lot of animals even in the dark and my niece really enjoyed it.ย  At one point during our tram ride, a malayan tapir (tbh, I never heard of this animal until it popped up in one of my niece’s toddler vocabulary books๐Ÿ™ˆ) strolled right past us!

S.E.A. Aquarium

The once largest aquarium is a great place to spend the afternoon, especially on a hot summer day (NB: Singapore’s weather tends to be warm all year-round). If you have more time, you can consider having an indoor picnic in front of the huge open ocean tank.

Accommodation

We stayed at Fairmont Singapore Hotel and would highly recommend it for any family travelling with small children.ย  At check-in, the staff kindly offered us with a baby bathtub and baby toiletries which we gladly accepted.ย ย  We booked a premier room with 2 double beds and an extra roll-away bed (haven’t been set up yet in the photo below) and there was still plenty of room for my niece to run around.ย ย  The hotel itself was connected to the Raffles City Shopping Centre which was very convenient especially since it had a good variety of restaurants and a supermarket.

Transportation

We found that taxis are quite convenient and reliable in Singapore as long as they are by the meter.ย  With a toddler and a bunch of backpacks and stroller, we found that taking a taxi was a better choice than taking the mrt (which may be quite crowded and require looking around for an elevator to get to the mrt platform).
